Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
Seven Lives Many Faces is Enigma's seventh album. This album expands the sound catalogue of previous releases and it is expected to lead to a new Omni-Cultural wave. The lead single "Seven Lives" is a powerful fusion of modern and classical elements. Enigma is an Electronic musical project founded by Michael Cretu, David Fairstein and Frank Peterson in 1990. Cretu is both the composer and the producer; his former wife Sandra often provided vocals on Enigma tracks. Jens Gad co-produced and played guitar on three of the Enigma albums.17 tracks.

5 out of 5 stars Cretu Brings Back a Subtle Textured CD   January 2, 2009
Seven Lives Many Faces by Enigma is an excellent CD/album. I have been a long time fan of Enigma even with all of the surrounding controversies, I still very much listen to their music. Seven Lives is one of Cretu's best since Enigma 2. The music is sophisticated, unique, sometimes a floaty escape. I did not care very much of Cretu's last work as it was too disco. With Seven Lives he goes back to his roots of creating subtle textured music with a beat. I didn't see anything that was extremely controversial or dark with this CD although the six pointed star on the cover may spur something but as far as the music is concerned it was done masterfully.

The tunes that I really like was Touchiness an enticing sexy song, The Same Parents a moralizing melody, Fata Morgana an excellent instrumental, and Hells Heaven also. Nice work Cretu and the Enigma crew.

5 out of 5 stars they're back!   December 29, 2008
this album is a major step up for micheal but more importantly its a big improvemnt from the previous disc. it really feels like the 90s enigma (i even heard the monks voices on one song, but forget witch one at the moment). heck, whatever micheal is doing now, its reviving my faith in the group. a posteriori was way to techno sounding, everything was the same old beat and instrument. but this, all songs take u to a different adventure. i like the tittle track, la puerta de celio, till my dying day, deja vu, superficial, we are nature, downtown silence. also some parts of between generations. if u wanna relive the glorious 90s enigma days, this is a good place to start.

3 out of 5 stars Definitely Not Enigma's Best   December 24, 2008
When Enigma first released their first album, I was one of the few who couldn't stand it. But then, my only exposure to their sound was "Sadeness," a piece I still don't care for.

It was only this past year that I happened to hear a track from their second album, "Return to Innocence," and was blown away. I immediately picked up all six of their studio albums and couldn't believe I'd missed out on all this fabulous stuff over the years.

I eagerly snatched up SEVEN LIVES upon its release and... yeah. Disappointed. The thing this album lacks is the presence of powerhouse tracks like the aforementioned "Return to Innocence," "The Child in Us," "Gravity of Love," and so on. While there are some pleasant pieces, here, it's just unimpressive, by Enigma standards.

I will not go so far, as others have, to say "save your money." I don't regret buying it. But it's never going to be among my favorites.

4 out of 5 stars Awesome!   December 15, 2008

I don't agree with some of the reviews here. I think the "screaming guy" on Seven Lives is absolutely awesome! I am glad they mixed it up a little bit. That song especially is the best one on the album. I love the whole album and I'm glad they don't keep trying to do the same thing over and over again. Love, Sensuality and Devotion is still the best album ever but this is close.

1 out of 5 stars Seven Lives, Many Failures   December 11, 2008

After listening to the full-length versions of many of these songs multiple times in preparation to buy this album, I was so turned off by the majority of what I heard that I felt it necessary to write a review just to say how ridiculously bad I think this album is! There are a few good moments, "Encounters," "The Same Parents" and "La Puerta Del Cielo" being a few of them, but what's the deal with the screaming male singer on songs like "Seven Lives" and "Distorted Love"? He completely ruins the songs on which he is featured, and if he weren't bad enough, one also has the puerile lyrics to contend with. "Je T'aime Till My Dying Day" is just basically the line "Do you love me too?" repeated over and over again to minimal background music, and "Distorted Love" is the scary male singer screaming "Touch me, I'll be your daddy, smell me, I'll be your mommy" over and over again, with "I love your body" on a loop in the background (sorry, scary dude, I'm not interested in smelling you today). "Touchness" fares no better, with "Touch and kiss me, up and down" being the only lyrics. If these songs did not bear the name "Enigma" and were not associated with Michael Cretu, they would be in the nearest wastebasket. This stuff is dreadful. The best thing about this album is the cover artwork.
