Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Although "Dr. Octagon" wasn't released until 1996, KutMasta Kurt was busy producing music with Kool Keith as far back as 1993. A few of these tracks have been floating around on fuzzy dubbed cassette tapes over the years and even a few have wound up on bootlegs, but now we officially get a chance to hear these archived tracks as intended. The CD is a 2,500 copy limited-edition digipack release. Each CD has been individually numbered, and includes a 12 page lyric sheet. The 2xLP vinyl is also limited-edition, with only 600 individually signed/autographed and numbered copies available! The original "Sex Style" has sound scanned well over 35,000 copies to date and this album is an essential companion for any fan of the original 1997 release. In fact with Sex Style's recent limited edition reissue creating a nice buzz at retail, this is the perfect time for this new release to drop.

2 out of 5 stars I Just Want More Sex Style!   June 19, 2008

When I did a random search for all things Kool Keith recently, I was pleasantly suprised to see that this CD collection of unreleased tracks from the "Sex Style" sessions had been released. "What a find", I thought to myself as I ordered what I thought was going to be a long-lost continuation of Kool Keith's perverted masterpiece.

Unfortunately, there's a reason why this stuff didn't make it on the album. While serviceable hip-hop tracks for anyone else (and still good songs), it just felt like a letdown. The energy (drug-addled or not) that flows through "Sex Style" just doesn't seem present here, and it seems like by the time Keith got around to laying down vocals for these tracks he had run through his cache of absurd, stream of counsciousness lyrics.

On the plus side, this collection provides insight into how prolific Kool Keith was during this period; since there's this album's worth of outtakes, and the actual "Sex Style" album, which is very full and still flows amazingly in my opinion. Some of these songs have great beats thanks to Kumasta Kurt, and Keith manages to bust out some funny lines, so for completists and those of us who wish Keith would put even this much effort into his current albums can enjoy that about this otherwise non-essential release.

5 out of 5 stars Best Release 2007?!   November 12, 2007

Another classic set of tracks... this release is very smart, sounds like Kool Keith and Kutmasta Kurt have a complete album in these just released recordings... The beats are definattly circa 93-95, and they sound better than anything I own from that era!!

Kool Keith's Lyrics are probably the funniest and craziest, his delivery recalls four horseman, or the cenobites. If your a fan of the best rap available you need to get this record!!
