2 out of 5 stars Good movie, bad soundtrack CD   November 26, 2006
Despite the mostly negative reviews I liked this movie. This CD, on the other hand, is another story. First of all it is a full-price CD at 35 minutes. Second there are actually songs from the movie that are not on this CD, which baffles me.

Basically, if you can get it on the cheap and liked the movie, go for it. $15? No.

4 out of 5 stars "Carmen: A Hip Hopera" In Review   December 27, 2002

I thought that the soundtrack was HOT! I got is because I love Beyonce.(Grammy award winning Destiny's Child)The movie was great, so if you liked that, you'll love the soundtrack also. But I agree with another person who reviewed this soundtrack: The tracks/songs are really kinda short, so I deducted a star. But the soundtrack is AWESOME. GO GET IT NOW!!!

4 out of 5 stars Great but too short   January 7, 2002

I basically bought this album because i'm a fan of ms. Knowlence and Destiny's Child. It turned up to be a great rap/ hip hop album with lot's of rap stars: da brat, missy elliott etc. the beats are great, the lyrics are tight, the reemixes are fine (especially the remix for Bootylicious, Baby!!!). The only one bad thing about this is... it's too short! 13 tracks that go over for about 35 minuts!!! What is that? There are only 4 songs here that are over 3-4 mints, and the others go for 1-2 minuts!!! ..... That's why I took off a star.

However, this album is still tight, though short. So buy it and enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars One of my favorite CDs in my collection.   November 25, 2001

01) Da Brat - The Introduction: Great, great, great beat. A short song, that sets up the whole album, and gives a short plot summary of the movie. 4/5

02) Destiny's Child Feat. Da Brat - Survivor [REMIX]: Great beat, great vocals, but the original song is played out, and this remix offers almost nothing more. 3/5

03) Royce Da 5'9" - Boom: Love the beat. It took a little getting used to, but after I listened to it a few more times, I really enjoyed it. 4/5

04) Rah Digga - What We Gonna' Do: I love this song. Probably my favorite on the album. The beat is awesome, and I love the chorus. 5/5

05) Beyonce Knowles - If Looks Could Kill, You Would Be Dead: Love the song. Beyonce has got some voice! And again, awesome beat. 5/5

06) Beyonce Knowles Feat. Wyclef Jean, and Rah Digga - Cards Never Lie: Great, slow song, that's actually pretty sad. Beyonce sings great as usual, but Wyclef almost ruins this song. 4.5/5

07) Beyonce Knowles and Mekhi Phifer - The Last Great Seduction: GREAT song! Beyonce, again, sings amazing, and Mekhi Phifer surprisingly raps great. Love the beat. 5/5

08) Casey Lee Feat. Rah Digga, and Joy Bryant - Great song. Great beat, and great rapping all around. Another one of my favorites on the album. 5/5

09) Mos Def and Mekhi Phifer - Black and Blue: Yet another great song. Once again, I love the beat, and the rapping is great. 5/5

10) Beyonce Knowles and Mekhi Phifer - Stop That: Yes, another great song, with a great beat. I love the lyrics, and Beyonce is fantastic as usual. 5/5

11) Casey Lee - Blaze Finale: Not one of my favorites on the album. I found it to be a little boring, and I'm not a big fan of Casey Lee in this song. But it does have a nice beat. 3/5

12) Da Brat - Immortal Beloved: Pretty much the same song as the first, but it sums up the story. 4/5

13) Destiny's Child Feat. Missy - Bootylicious [REMIX]: I love this song. Nice slow beat, with some great singing. Unlike the Survivor remix, this song offers more than the original song. 5/5

Overall, a great, great album. Beyonce Knowles, the main star on this album, does a fantastic job. She sings, and raps great. Mekhi Phifer surprised me with some great rapping. Although there are one or two songs that should have been replaced, the many great tracks make up for it. Also, I would have liked this CD to run alittle bit longer. I know there were more songs in the film. Why not include them all and have a huge 2 disc set? But, I can't complain. The CD is great, and I highley recommend it to Destiny Child fans, and any hip-hop fan.

3 out of 5 stars One great song..the rest..eh..   August 29, 2001

I bought this soundtrack because I took a major liking to the Bootylicious Rockwilder remix..the song rocks!!!! But besides that, I don't care for any of the other songs except for the Survivor remix, but then again, that sounds almost like the original one. Not saying this is a bad album, but it's not one of the best either..that's why I don't understand why I see so many 5 star ratings, but to each his own, I guess.
