Album Description Deluxe Edition Two CD set. Cadillac Records stars Beyonce, Mof Def, Jeffrey Wright and Adrien Brody with the soundtrack featuring Beyonce, Mof Def, Columbus Short, Mary Mary, Raphael Saadiq, Solange, Little Walter and Nas with Olu Dara. The movie is about Leonard Chess who co-founded Chess Records, the pre-eminent blues label of the Fifties and Sixties, with his brother Phil. They formed Aristocrat Records in 1947 and the Chess label two years later with a mind-boggling flood of Blues, R&B plus Rock'N'Roll talent- Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Willie Dixon, Etta James and Little Walter.

Back to Chicago ! January 6, 2009 It was time to show to the youngs where are the roots of their music and for some older from where does the Rock 'n' Roll come from. This his a good picture of an important part of the music of the 50's and 60's. Chess contribution was great and with the help of Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Chuck Berry, Etta James... he made what is the Blues now and a music which pleased to Rolling Stones, John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Peter Green and many more who have brought it into Europe at the beginning of the 60's. Thanks to them and the Blues will never die !
Cadillac Records December 31, 2008 i love the songs beyonce did over she needs an oscar like jennifer hudson did in Dream Girls for redoing the songs over and making them her on.
No room for tea parties on South Michigan Avenue December 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I find it amazing that with some 50 years of advances in recording technology that this soundtrack is so vapid compared to the originals. Muddy Waters was a powerhouse - Chuck Berry a musical technocrat and Etta James a presence. When Muddy Waters sang on the original Chess masters - you knew there was someone home- his performances were ANGRY and authoritative - Jeffrey Wright's performances are fit for a tea party in the UK not for the Windy City. It's all about soul and presence not technology and Beyonce unfortunately is no comparison to Etta James although her own compositions are good
Cadillac Records-the best December 21, 2008 After viewing this wonderful movie-I was so impressed with the music that I had to get the soundtrack. It is amazing! I have so much more appreciation for folk music, country and western, and the blues. Beyonce has grown as an artist to an executive producer and so has her voice-the artistry and creativity of Mos Def, Jeffrey Wright, Q-tip, Nas is phenomenal! Every song is good- I will be jamming to this CD all the holiday Season. If you are a music lover this soundtrack is a MUST HAVE for your collection. It reminds me of the good old days.
Bump Rap December 8, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I see movies constantly that are based on historical fact but are far removed from it. I watched this movie, not expedting to much and was blown away by the quality of the work. Frankly, I dont care how closely it sticks to the cronoligy of facts, it was highly entertaining. If I want perfect facts I will watch National Geographic. The acting was supurb. I GIVE J,WRIGHT ACTOR OF THE YEAR. THIS ACTOR IS GREAT. Thumbs up for a good overall job. I bought the sound track after seeing the movie. The RAP is CRAP. They could leave it off and mentally sound peoplw would be happy. In fact I suspect the rap will hold down sales of the track. Beyonce was OK but I liked the The other singers better
I copied my CD to a new CD and left off the RAP CRAP. All is now well.
