Amazon.com Will the real Slim Shady please stand up? On Eminem's sophomore album, he can't decide who he wants to be: the deranged pseudo-psycho of the Slim Shady LP, or a nice guy who just likes to rhyme about slicing and dicing his girlfriend ("Kim"). Of course, according to Eminem, he's just kidding. He refuses to take responsibility for the misogynistic, homophobic bile he spews, whining that he's the victim of people who don't get his unique sense of humor. It's good old America's fault if the kids aren't alright (Eminem blames bad parenting), and he's just capitalizing on Uncle Sam's dark side. On the Marshall Mathers LP, he's ambivalent about his fame, angry at his life, pissed off that people take him seriously, and fightin' mad at boy bands--and a lot of other white people. But the blue-eyed brat is acutely aware of his status as rap's resident alien: he has the most offensive mouth running, but never uses the "N" word. He gives lyrical love to tragic (black) legends like Tupac and Biggie while dissing white rappers hard. Even sitting duck Puffy gets the kid-gloves treatment. Of course, Eminem is an interesting, witty rapper, and there's some nice production on this CD, courtesy of Dr. Dre and others. But the hatred in Eminem's rhymes makes the album rotten at its core. And his protests that Slim Shady is just a persona become less convincing with each arrest. Then again, Eminem's got it hard: he's rich, famous, white, and male. --Lizz Mendez Berry

Entertaining Album December 12, 2008 This Was A Very Great Eminem Album. This Was My Favorite Work From Him. All The Song's Meant Something, Unlike Most Rapper's. They Rap About Money, Car's, Bling Bling And All That Stuff. But, Eminem Rap's About His Life And The Exprience And Struggle's He Went Through. That's What I Like More About Eminem
That Kim Song Was To Much Though. It's About Him And His Wife, And His Wife Cheated On Him. Then He Kill's Her, In The Song Actually. The Other Song's Were Great. Kill You, Who Knew, The Way I Am And Criminal Are My Top Favorite Song's On This Album.
All The Song's On This Album Was Great To Be Honest. This Is His Best Work.

Em's Best Album November 11, 2008 This was definatly Em's gratest moment artistically, and even 9 years later it still hits hard, proving that it wasnt just "Shock value" that made it a hit. Best songs: "The Way I Am", "Kim" and "Criminal"
Pure gay garbage! October 16, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I completely despise this guy feminem who by the way has no real musical talent he's just a white trash whiny baby who just thinks people including his fans owe him a favor by kissing his arse. Theres nothing truly good on this pure discharge album theres no real music all it has is a spew of swearing and all his hate discrimination towards women homos his mom and his girlfriend' now I can't really call this music because it's not music at all.
Don't give your money to this whiny talentless clown' support real musicians who make real music not some vulgar whiny baby like feminem.
I Hope one day all the fans will find much better things than this literally!
Feminem you suck!
HIP HOP NEEDS YOU October 1, 2008 Okay! lets face it there are many artist in the game right now that RAP but EMINEM, EMINEM is a beast he is the definition of hip hop I listened to this album consistantly up to today and I'm still hooked. Great album! Stan is considerabley the greatest track on this album but musically and lyricaly EMEINEM raises the bar on the entire album for the standard of Hip Hop.
