| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Few groups have kept the Parliament-Funkadelic legacy alive in hip-hop more than Digital Underground. Their greasy-spoon beats are saturated in P-Funk-style rhythms, and they aspire to a P-Funk tradition that celebrates life, blackness, and a prophetic vision for a utopian future. Only their second album in five years (after releasing three from 1990 to 1993), Who Got the Gravy? brings on everything from deliciously nasty dance jams like "Wind Me Up" to a bugged-out duel between Humpty Hump and the legendary Biz Markie on "The Odd Couple." Big Pun and KRS-One also pop in to cameo, but the album's best guest is Oakland's up-and-coming MC Mystik; she helps turn "April Showers" into a seductive but groovy love song supreme. --Oliver Wang

George (GC), FUNKADELIC TOYS (Import) i'm just patiently waiting for (THIS) release; for I know it's another 420 Funk Mob, and revised hit called "THE GOOSE" (That laid the Golden Egg) and "WARS OF ARMAGEDDON" (Karaoke version). Name says it all - music to fly to, January 16, 2004 Reviewer: Vadim Grigorash (Moscow, Russia) - See all my reviews If the hypocrites and central scrutinizers of the world weren't so narrow-minded, they would have banned this album as an illicit drug on the date of release. It flows, simmers, grooves and soars inextinguishably in a virtually seamless fusion of a dozen of ancient and modern styles with a nod to eternity. Powerful and mesmerizing enough to make a Sufi twirl. Highly recommended, even if some find it a bit recycled or repetitive after Laswell's one-too-many subsequent offerings, or too muzaky to rank on par with 'serious jazz'. Stuff of a quality rarely achieved by today's 'ethno/world' crowd.
For the proverbial desert island collection, I'd put it right next to Mark Hollis, Secrets of the Beehive, Joe's Garage, Hunky-Dory, Glyph, Remain in Light, Within the Realm of a Dying Sun, Dreams of Reason Produce Monsters, Grassy Knoll's Positive, Beginning to Melt, Crimson's Beat and One Hand, Portishead, Mind Bomb, What Means Solid Traveler, Jimi Hendrix and an early 70s funk and soul compilation.
If you're a Laswell novice, (the guy is notoriously prolific).

Want more gravy? September 8, 2003 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you're looking for more gravy, check out Shock G's website (www.ShockG.com). It has *FREE* downloads of various d.u. songs, including "You're Life Is A Cartoon" (b-side to the original "Underwater Rhymes"), plus you can download the full album of "The Lost Files". This album was originally offered on Money B's website, but now you can get it here for free. Also, there is also a new song there. Anyways, thought I'd let you d.u. fans know this!Now...the album review. I purchased this album, after searching several places for it. After listening once, I was craving more! It's a shame they're no longer on a major label, as they still have it, while most of the "stuff" out there is just here. I'm ready for another helpin' of gravy, boys!
pour it on baby pour it on February 17, 2000 Digital Underground have once again made an album that, despite it's goofy appearance, continues to elevate hip hop. This album doesn't have the same sound that the other D.U. albums have, but instead the break new ground. On the track holla holiday, the freaks of the industry flow about one of their favorite passtimes. On the sidesplitting "man's girl" humpty takes on the personality of peanut hakeem anafu washington "frostbite slim". there are other classics here, like the odd couple, featuring biz markee and humpty snapping at each other. another top notch track is wind me up, guranteed to get the party started. get the gravy, you won't be upset.
any more gravy? February 1, 2000 i dont have many complaints on this album except it seemed noticably short for an effort that was over 2 years in the making....on the other side that means there aren't any fast forward tracks on here but i would've wanted more music for all the time they took off....none the less it is another solid offering from the tripped out underground
